TXU Energy’s Free Nights plan is an electricity plan, originally offered in 2012 as the first of its kind.

It offers its customers free electricity usage during predetermined hours of the day.

TXU Energy began offering services as one of the very first Retail Electric Providers, or REP, with the beginning of deregulation of the Texas electricity market in 2002.

Since 2002, TXU Energy has maintained a position as one of the front-runners in new electricity initiatives in Texas.

In 2012, TXU Energy took the Texas electricity market by storm when they introduced the game-changing TXU Energy Free Nights plan, which offered customers a unique way to save by shifting their usage activities.

This ground-breaking, new plan type was the first of its kind, and by 2013, TXU Energy had enrolled more than 10,000 Texas consumers in this plan.

In 2017, TXU Energy took its TXU Energy Free Nights plan to the next level with the creation of the TXU Energy Free Nights & Solar Days plan.

This new plan, which merges TXU Energy’s most popular plan with renewable energy, enrolls more customers than any other solar-based electricity plan in Texas.

TXU Energy Free Nights Plan: Payments

For existing customers, there are four payment options available for the TXU Energy Free Nights Plan.

1. Pay with MyAccount: Payments can be made using TXU Energy’s MyAccount option. Sign in online or use the smartphone app to make your payment. You can even set up automatic payments with your bank account or credit card using MyAccount.
2. Pay By Phone: Credit card or bank account payments can be made by speaking to a customer service representative over the phone.
3. Pay in Person: With dozens of payment locations available, it’s easy to make your payment in person. Just be sure to take your statement with you.

• Free Nights & Solar Days 12 (9 p.m.) – This plan offers free electricity usage from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day during the 12-month contract term.

TXU Energy Free Nights Plan: Cost

Your cost per kWh under TXU Energy’s Free Nights plan is based on your average monthly use.

Both the Free Nights & Solar Days 12 (8 p.m.) and the Free Nights & Solar Days 12 (9 p.m.) are currently priced as follows:

• 500 kWh average monthly use – 15.8¢ per kWh
• 1000 kWh average monthly use – 14.5¢ per kWh
• 1500 kWh average monthly use – 13.8¢ per kWh

In addition to this per kWh cost, there are also a few other fees you should be aware of:

• Each plan is charged a flat monthly base charge of $9.95/month.
• An early termination fee of $150 applies to all plans.
• There is also a per kWh TDU delivery charge that will be applied, depending on your TDU’s delivery charges.
