TXU offers fixed-rate plans with contracts ranging from 12 to 36 months. Throughout your contract, you’ll have more stable energy charges (the rate per kilowatt-hour, or kWh). Your monthly bill can still fluctuate depending on the plan’s fees, TDU delivery charges, taxes, and your monthly usage, but the more predictable rate makes budgeting for electricity easier. It’s important to note that TXU Energy’s fixed-rate plans usually have an ETF.

Variable-Price / Month-to-Month Plans

The Flex plans offered by TXU Energy (including a solar buyback option) are variable-price, meaning they don’t have long-term contracts or locked-in energy charges. They can be a good fit for households needing flexibility, but remember that your rate can increase or decrease alongside market conditions without warning.

Time-of-Use Plans

The Free Nights & Cool Summer 12 plan is a time-of-use (TOU) plan with zero energy charges every night from 9 p.m. to 4:59 a.m. CT. It also gives customers a 25% credit on all energy charges from 5 a.m. to 8:59 p.m. CT during June, July, and August. TXU also offers a Free Nights & Solar Days TOU plan supported by green energy. Customers may still be responsible for other fees during free periods. This type of plan is typically a good option for households that primarily use electricity during the promotional timeframe.

Green Energy / Renewable Plans

TXU has green energy plans that have between 25% and 100% renewable content. Some plans, like the Free Nights & Solar Days TOU plan, have green energy built in, but you can make any TXU plan renewable through the GreenUp add-on for an additional cost. These plans allow Texans to support green energy initiatives in the state without installing any specialized equipment.

Solar Buyback Plans & Solar Club

Solar buyback plans offer customers bill credits for the eligible excess energy their home solar systems send back to the main grid. The Solar Buyback Saver plan also features a lower energy rate for the electricity your home sources from the grid. If you don’t have solar panels, you can opt for TXU’s Solar Club, which purchases solar power and renewable energy credits from Texas solar farms for up to the first 500 kWh of electricity each month; usage above that amount is billed at the plan’s locked-in rate, and nighttime usage comes from the traditional grid.

Seasonal Savings Plans

TXU Energy offers electricity plans that can provide seasonal savings opportunities. The Ultimate Summer Pass gives customers discounted energy charges up to 50% during June, July, and August, and 25% off in May and September. Additionally, they offer a 100% discount on energy charges for the three hottest days from May through September. These plans can be a great option for anyone looking to lower their bills during peak months.

Bill Credit Plans

Bill credit plans provide customers with money toward their monthly bills when they use a certain amount of electricity. These are best for households that use a consistent amount of power that aligns with the plan’s specified usage threshold, because the credit disappears if you don’t use the right amount of electricity.

These are fixed-rate plans that offer discounts or rewards when specific requirements are met. For example, the e-Saver 12 plan rewards customers with a discounted rate when they enroll in autopay and paperless billing. Most of these plans have a cancellation fee of $150.

EV Charging Plans

EV charging plans offer free or reduced energy charges during specific overnight hours. These plans can help EV owners who charge at home save money on their monthly electricity bill.
