What Was Evolve Energy?

Evolve Energy was a privately owned electricity provider based in Houston, Texas.

Founded in 2019, the company served residential customers in deregulated areas across the state. During its time in the Texas market, Evolve Energy focused on wholesale electricity pricing, prepaid service, and renewable energy plans.

Although the company is no longer active in Texas, it was known for offering an alternative to traditional retail electricity plans through a prepaid, market-based pricing model.

What Made Evolve Energy Different From Other REPs?

Evolve Energy took a different approach than many Texas electricity providers.

Rather than offering traditional fixed-rate plans, the company built its service around wholesale electricity pricing and prepaid account management. Customers paid market-based electricity rates and could track their usage and account balances through the company’s mobile app.

Other features associated with Evolve Energy included:

  • Pay-as-you-go electricity service
  • No long-term contracts
  • No early termination fees (ETFs)
  • Renewable energy options
  • Real-time usage monitoring

The company also offered electricity plans supported by renewable energy resources, including wind and solar generation.

Evolve Energy Reviews

Customer reviews can provide useful insight into an electricity provider’s billing practices, customer service, and overall experience. As with most providers, online feedback often reflected either very positive or very negative experiences.

Before Evolve Energy left the Texas market, reviews and ratings could be found through:

  • Facebook
  • Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT)

Because the company operated for a relatively short period, it generated fewer reviews than many larger Texas electricity providers.

Evolve Energy Plans

Unlike many retail electric providers that offered several plan options, Evolve Energy focused primarily on a single residential electricity plan.

Prepaid Renewable Energy Plan

Evolve Energy’s main offering combined prepaid electricity service with wholesale market pricing and renewable energy support.

Key features included:

  • Pay-as-you-go electricity service
  • Pricing tied to wholesale electricity markets
  • Renewable energy supported by wind and solar resources
  • Real-time usage monitoring through a mobile app
  • No long-term contract requirement

Customers were required to make an initial $75 payment when opening an account. That amount was applied toward future electricity usage and was not treated as a deposit.

Evolve Energy Business Plans

Evolve Energy did not offer a dedicated lineup of commercial electricity plans.

Instead, the company’s focus remained on residential customers and prepaid electricity service.

Evolve Energy Customer Service

While Evolve Energy operated in Texas, customers could contact the company for assistance with billing questions, account management, and service-related concerns.

Support options included:

  • Phone support
  • Online account support
  • Mobile app account management

Customer service was generally available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time.

Evolve Energy Pay Bill

Evolve Energy used a prepaid billing model that allowed customers to fund their accounts in advance and monitor balances through the company’s online tools.

Payment options included:

  • Payments through the Evolve Energy mobile app
  • Online account payments
  • Debit card payments
  • Credit card payments
  • ACH payments
  • Check-by-phone payments

Customers could also contact customer service during regular business hours for help with payments or account funding.
