Revolution Energy (REP Certificate Number 10299) is a REP in Texas built around a simple idea: electricity plans should be straightforward, transparent, and customer-first. The company focuses on clear pricing and easy-to-understand terms. Their published Customer Bill of Rights outlines what customers can expect, reinforcing their commitment to honesty, accountability, and fair treatment.
If customers read Revolution Energy’s online FAQs and have spoken with customer service and still feel as though any issues are unresolved, they can contact the company’s CEO directly. They also make it easy to share the savings. Through their Tell-A-Friend referral program, customers (and the person they refer) can earn a $25 bill credit.
As a REP, Revolution Energy is responsible for creating and selling electricity plans, handling billing issues, and answering plan-related questions. However, they do not deliver power to your home or business, and they don’t maintain the electric grid infrastructure. Those jobs belong to your local Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU, also called an electric utility). If your power goes out, contact your TDU, not Revolution Energy.
Your monthly bill will include TDU delivery fees. These are regulated charges that are the same for every customer within a specific TDU, regardless of who their REP is. They may be updated a few times each year.
| Role | Who it is | What they control | What the customer should do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retail Electric Provider (REP) | Revolution Energy | Plan structure, contract terms, billing, customer service | Compare plans, read the EFL, enroll or switch plans |
| Transmission & Distribution Utility (TDU) | Oncor / CenterPoint / AEP Texas North / AEP Texas Central / TNMP | Delivery fees, power lines, meters, outage restoration | Contact the TDU for outages, downed lines, and restoration updates |
| Grid Operator | Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) | Grid reliability and balancing supply/demand across Texas | Not a billing contact; use REP/TDU channels for customer issues |
Customer reviews for Revolution Energy are mixed, but many highlight their appreciation for the REP’s transparency and hands-on service approach. Some reviewers mention responsive customer support and clear plan explanations, especially compared to larger providers. Others report frustration with plan structure or higher-than-expected costs, particularly if they did not fully understand how pricing worked at different usage levels.

Revolution Energy offers fixed-rate, time-of-use, variable-rate, and green energy electricity plans in deregulated areas of Texas. Let’s take a closer look at each option. As always, make sure you read the EFL for full details before committing.
Fixed-rate plans lock in the energy charge portion of your electricity rate for the duration of your contract. That means your price per kilowatt-hour won’t change, even if market rates go up. Revolution Energy offers fixed-rate contracts for 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, and 36 months. They can be a good fit for anyone who wants consistency in their monthly bills.
Variable-price electricity plans (also known as variable rate) can change prices every month based on market conditions. This is a month-to-month plan without a long-term contract. Due to its unpredictability, this plan type is typically only good in specific short term situations, such as realtors who need power for home showings.
Time-of-use (TOU) plans offer free electricity by time of day (and sometimes by day of week), usually with cheaper off-peak periods and more expensive peak periods. Revolution Energy offers Free Nights plans with no energy charges from 9 PM to 5:59 AM, and Free Weekends plans with no energy charges from 8 PM on Fridays to 5:59 AM on Mondays. Keep in mind that you’re still responsible for paying base charges during these free usage hours.
Revolution Energy offers fixed-rate, variable-rate, and time-of-use plans backed by Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). RECs are tradable certificates that represent the environmental attributes of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity generated from an eligible renewable source, such as wind, hydro, or solar. When you use electricity under these green plans, an equivalent amount of renewable energy is added to the grid.
Revolution Energy offers multiple business plans to keep you up and running. The REP only charges businesses for the electricity they consume, TDU delivery charges, and applicable taxes; there are no base REP charges, meter fees, or minimum usage fees. Texas businesses in deregulated areas can contact Revolution Energy for more information.
