Amigo Energy's Electricity Plans Breakdown

Amigo Energy offers electricity contracts ranging from 12 to 60 months. Some plans don’t have base charges, and all of them can be powered by renewable energy for an extra fee. Before enrolling, always review the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) to understand the specific rates, fees, and terms associated with each plan.

Fixed-Rate Plans

Fixed-rate electricity plans offer a stable rate per kWh for the length of your contract. They’re often a good choice for many households because of their predictability.

Pros:

  • Protection from seasonal price spikes
  • Wide variety of plan options

Cons:

  • Possible Early Termination Fee (ETF)
  • No benefit if market prices drop
  • Long contracts

Time-of-Use Plans

Time-of-use plans, also known as free electricity plans, charge different rates per kWh depending on when you use electricity. Amigo Energy has plans that offer free or reduced usage on days or weekends.

Pros:

  • Lower rates during designated off-peak times
  • Potential savings for households with flexible energy habits
  • Encourages more efficient electricity use

Cons:

  • Higher rates during peak hours
  • Requires a smart meter
  • May require energy usage adjustments

Green Energy Plans

Green energy plans source electricity from renewable sources like wind, solar, hydro, and more. You can choose to power any Amigo Energy plan with renewable sources for an additional fee of $9.99 per month.

Pros:

  • Diverse plan options
  • No solar panels needed
  • Doesn’t require changes in how you use energy

Cons:

  • Comes at an extra cost
  • No solar buyback options
  • May not be available in all service areas

Bill Credit Plans

Bill credit plans apply a credit to your account when your usage meets certain thresholds, such as 1,000 or 2,000 kWh per month, depending on the plan.

Pros:

  • Potential for monthly savings
  • Ideal for larger households with consistently high usage
  • Fixed-rate for more predictable bills

Cons:
